Woodford sits in the Moreton Bay hinterland, west of the Glass House Mountains, and shares the Sunshine Coast's subtropical pattern: hot, humid summers with heavy storms, then mild and often dry winters. The three varieties we grow are warm-season grasses suited to that pattern. What changes from one Sunshine Coast yard to the next is the soil, the salt and the shade, and that is what should decide your variety.
Lawns on the coastal strip and lawns in the hinterland face different problems, so the right turf depends on where you are:
Humidity is the common factor. Water new turf early in the morning rather than at night, so the leaf dries during the day.
We grow three varieties at our farm in Woodford QLD 4514 and harvest them for each order, so the turf that reaches your Sunshine Coast job spends as little time as possible out of the ground.
Palmetto buffalo has been discontinued. If you are patching or replacing a Palmetto lawn, Sir Walter is the buffalo we grow.

Where your lawn sits matters as much as how it looks. Choose for shade first, then for soil and salt, then for how much mowing you want to do.
Wintergreen couch is $7.00/m². Sir Walter buffalo and Empire Zoysia are $15.50/m². Use the turf calculator to add up your lawn areas and see the price for each variety, then order online or send us a quote form for delivery to your Sunshine Coast address.
On our farm at Woodford QLD 4514, in the Moreton Bay hinterland. We are the grower, and we supply turf across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast from there.
Sir Walter buffalo and Empire Zoysia generally cope better with salty air and hot, dry sand than a fine-leaf couch. Whatever you choose, sandy coastal soil dries out fast, so new turf needs more frequent watering. Our drought-tolerant turf guide compares the three varieties.
Sir Walter buffalo is the most shade-tolerant of the three varieties we grow. Empire Zoysia handles light shade; Wintergreen couch needs full sun. See our shade-tolerant turf guide for how to judge your yard.
Lay it the day it arrives. Turf left rolled up in Sunshine Coast heat dries out and yellows quickly, so prepare the ground first. Our laying guide covers preparation, and the watering schedule covers the first four weeks.
