Commonwealth Games Turf Production

In Partnership with HG Turf we had been selected to grow the turf for the 2018 Commonwealth games at our turf production facility at Woodford.

The contract was to purposely grow and produce the turf for the 2018 Commonwealth Games opening and closing ceremonies as well as for the re-turfing of the Main field of Metricon Stadium which is used nationally for Big Bash Cricket and AFL fixtures.

We had selected a 25,000m2 Pad which was laser graded and shape to the same falls as the final surface, we then installed a Full Automated Pop Up Irrigation System to the area, fed by the Stanley River, Storage Dams and Bores.

The turf selected was Wintergreen couch which was washed and sprigged into the HG hybrid turf system. After the planting process the top dressing program (1500 tne over 12 mths) was engaged as part of the 12 month grow in program which included, regular soil testing, leaf analysis tests, sod shear strength tests, inspection and reporting was done on a weekly basis by an independent third party turf consultant.
